How do the FIFA points add up? If England lose against Croatia and Scotland beat Italy would that lead to Scotland going above England?

though the rankings was based on results going back several years? if so, it's not taken scotland very long to catch up despite not having qualified for anything in ages

It's based on matches played over the last 4 years, I think.

Norway beeing above Sweden in the rankings is absolutely pathetic.
Ok, so Norway have improved significantly, but no way are we better than the Swedes

it is, maybe even 5 years... but it's weighted in such a way that recent results are worth more than the older ones

24th ffs? We just keep on dropping... over the past four years we've qualified from the group stage of both international tournaments, and have an excellent qualification record. And credits to Scotland who've had a very good qualifying campaign, but there's no way they should be 9 places ahead of us.

Friendlies are probably what's killing us. Sweden has an awful, awful record in friendlies, especially if the January ones (With just players from the Scandinavian leagues) are included.

The FIFA rankings are kinder to Scotland than the Elo ratings, which took quite a beating from the Georgia accident.
