Clearly it's James McFadden that's the 13th best country in the world and not the rest of the rubbish he has to put up with

Austria 88th below the likes of Albania, Equatorial Guinea, St Vincent & Grenadines, Mozambique, Oman, and Armenia. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Christ, they were around 65th at the start of the year, do you get many points for friendlies?
Not that they actually won many of those this year either.

At least it will be some consolation if we dont beat italy to get to the euro's as the good work we have done makes us stand a good chance of getting to the world cup
Surely it's our turn for the draw to be kind to us, even though we've done well so far.

What has happened to the Austrian national team? It wasn't that long ago they were playing in the World Cup (2002?). tbh I don't know of many Austrians playing outside of their home country (although I'm sure someone will put me right on that one!).

Thanks for that. November's rankings come out on the 23rd so they will probably be used.

I can't count. England would be a 1st seed.

World Cup '98 was the last time Austria qualified for anything, this will be the first Euro Championships they have played in.

List of Austria players playing abroad:
Pogatetz - Middlesborough
Martin Stranzl - Spartak Moscow
Gyorgy Garics - Napoli
Andreas Ibertsbeger - Freiburg
Jürgen Macho - AEK
Alexander Manninger - Siena
Andreas Ivanschitz - Panathinaikos (Loan)
Thomas Prager - Heerenveen
Markus Kiesenebner - Lillestrøm
Markus Schopp - NY Red Bulls (Loan from Red Bull Salzburg I think?)
Markus Weissenberger - Frankfurt
Roland Linz - Braga
Martin Harnik - Werder Breman
Paul Scharner - Wigan

There's just the ones who have been in the national team this year. There's another guy who plays in Italy, has a Turkish name but I can't think of it atm.
