Ironic that the vast majority of it was stuff long deleted which the record companies won't actually enable you to buy these days if you wanted to.

Never heard of them.
Read the article though, obviously the record companies need action to be seen to be taken but as others have said, 2 more sites will only spring up in their place. Probably hosted in Mongolia or somewhere this time.

Never heard of it either actually. Tbh, sites like Suprnova were easily replaced, I don't see this being such a big deal.

| Being that Oink was a private invite only site and there is nothing of comparrison out there now, I don't think it's such an easy thing to replace quickly. Also, there were alot of oink users on another forum I post on and people would always post about their upload/download ratio, I would think alot of people would be less willing to use their connections to upload hundreds of GBs when they know the site can be shut down and their "effort" is wasted. This is a major victory for the record labels if they can keep Oink shut down.

A Cleveland Police spokesman said: "This extremely lucrative and creative scheme consisted of a private file-sharing website being set up. Membership was by invitation only.
| que? as far as I know they didn't charge for membership and I doubt they made a lot on advertising.
