See ? Even the mackems have to come to Newcastle for a good night out.
MF - I think Neil is in his mid-late 20's. Think I might(!) be the oldest Newcastle supporter on here at 34, but then again Sarah's Daddy might be of a similar age. He doesn't post that often recently though.
Newcastle's changed a lot as a night out, since I first started going out back in the early 90's. Back then, The Bigg Market was the place to go really. Much has changed since then, thankfully. The city and it's nightlife has become a lot more cosmopolitan. It's not one of the best night's out in the world for nothing.

Seriously considering Apartment after looking at the website. Just chatting to my mate and apparently we're staying on the Quayside. He was there last time and reakons there is some club down there where "all the footballers go"
Anyway, also heard Baha club is decent. Only thing now is finding somewhere lively for Thursday. Any ideas?

| Baja beach club? Waste of time, money and the walk across the bridge.
Thursday is a student night so; players in the gate should be busy and fairly cheap iirc, blue bambu in the bigg market should be busy later on (open till 3) digital should have something on aswell
Liquid/envy is good to finish at, very busy on a saturday and quite snazy inside apart from the bogs which you have to wade through sometimes.

The Gate and Tiger Tiger are multiplex-ish things, right next to each other. Tiger Tiger is concerned only with drinking, whereas the Gate is a cinema with bars, restaurants etc attached. Sounds great, I know, but it's packed with cnuts.
| Thats ****ing crazy. That's completely alien where I come from (Dublin). Whats the atmosphere like in these "multiplex's"?? I cant get shopping centre with bars or multiplex bowling alley out of my head... Can you smoke there? </BLOCKQUOTE>
You can't smoke because it's all indoors, so it's a long walk for a tab if you're upstairs somewhere. The atmosphere is cnut-flavoured. If you're a cnut, it's possible you'll love it. If you're not a cnut, you might be put off by the prevalence of total cnuts.

Baja is dead cheesy by all accounts. The players used to go to Julies and the Quilted Camel, but isn't Sea their club of choice now ?
Good bars to look out for on the Quayside - Offshore 44, The Cooperage and The Akenside. Can all get very busy though. Avoid Jimmy's unless you've taken a mortgage out !

I'm taken aback a bit by this. Going by what you guys have said, I'm getting the impression that Newcastle has one of the best nights out in the country. Is it that good though? It's not one of the first places I would think of that has a good night - but you've all said it is so it might well be.

It is - pretty well known throughout the UK. Think it also gets a good write up on Lonely Planet.

I lived in Middlesbrough for 4 years and I've never been to Newcastle, but I'm going out with about 15 mates this Saturday for my gf's birthday so hopefully will be good.
