It's about this sort of time us final year students start to think about whether we need to apply for those silly jobs at the big firms due to the deadlines coming up. Then there are those of us who would like to work in a small but progressive firm with a clear focus/ideology, call it what you like, but have no idea where to find them.
So I do scouting around on prospects.ac.uk and hotprospects.org.uk, monster etc and they all say how important it is that we consider small firms when applying for jobs.
Except when they post jobs, they post job titles, salaries, a name of a town, benefits and maybe a link to their website.
Now is it just me, but if I were to apply to a small firm those things would be fairly low on my priority list. I know that a large MNE can offer a better salary, benefits and operate in London, big whoop.
If I want to work in a small firm I want to know if the manager's a sound bastard, whether you get to travel, what the office feel is like, whether it's in a nice part of town, what their motives are (because it's not always money).
Is there anywhere that offers this kind of service?

Is it me or is SME recruitment a bit broken? Post #2
I work in an SME (in the business of training other SME's no less) and most of the businesses we train (ourselves too) just dont have the money to spend on recruitment.
everyone in this company has found their way here through networking. Ironically, bar myself. I went through a government funded apprenticeship program, although that reiterates my point that this size business cannot afford to advertise.
My best suggestion to find the kind of company you are looking for is networking, if you did a placement as part of your degree try going to any contacts you had/made there.
hope that helps.
