pretty poor reflection on the people that think nothing Karl said in this show was funny at all, and that the only way he can be considered comedy is if there are guys there to laugh in response to his comments (i.e. on the radio shows)
you shouldnt need someone to tell you when and where to laugh, the whole point is that Karl's musings are amusing in themselves (and they are). whether Gervais is there to point that out more overtly is pretty much a side-issue
imo (even if the contagious laughter does add to the effect at times)
