'Cos Lenin's purges weren't quite as bloody as Stalin's?

****ing cretin.

The CWU have put adverts in the Independant & Mirror this morning.

I'm with them.

These uber capitalists on this board make me laugh, management of businesses like RM (not to mention the CBI) would have everyone working for a bowl of rice and a couple of fish heads a day if they had a free reign. I for one am glad of a union presence in the UK.

Also, don't forget that the CBI would take away the minimum wage in an instant.

They and Crozier et f**king al are responsible for the death of social mobility in this country and the fact there's naff all industry left in the UK. They need teaching a lesson and so do the government.

Mr Crozier added: "We are simply asking people to work the 37 hours and 20 minutes they are getting paid to work and if they have to work longer, then of course they get paid overtime.

"For the union to say they can't accept that is frankly not a tenable position."
He's got a fair point tbh.

I heard a good point said by one of my far more intelligent friends in that they only strike to relieve the monotony of their working day and to make their life seem more exciting.
(the extra cash helps as well).

but what if you don't want the overtime? what if you did your delivery as you should, walking at a fair pace, not looking at letters while walking, not cutting across gardens etc (and if you did you would always go over your time)? you take back mail to the office every single day, EVERY DAY.
i tell you what happens to the guys in my office. one of them got suspended from his delivery and put through the disciplinary system, although he was obviouylsy found inoccent it didn't stop them from doing it again, another one they got rid of at the first opportunity for a minor infringement and the others get threatened with the sack.

the royal mail hiarachy know full well that if everyone worked their hours then the mail would not be delivered anyway.
the fact that most people come in 15-20mins before hteir time start and don't have a proper meal relief just so they can make it out on time seems to have past them by.

I start at 5pm and am in daily before 4:30 so I can get everything ready for the area I work on. Unpaid, obviously - though I do get to leave early occasionally. I also don't get a meal break. If I just came in at 5 it'd take until 5:30 for everything to get ready, meaniing there was half an hour of mail not being sorted. Then there's the 30 minute break I get, so that'd be an hour's less productivity right there. Crozier needs to know what's actually happening before making statements like that.
