It could be a few things from your description, it's good that you're going to the doctor. It's really hard to figure out just from reading it... On top of that my medical knowledge is fairly limited!
It may even be an epidermal/sebaceous cyst, if that helps you get some sleep tonight. That's a benign problem that they sometimes will just cut off and isn't an STI. Dunno tho.
It's annoying when you realise this kind of thing is an issue on a Friday cos you have to sit around trying to get your mind off it til Monday :/
