Definitely gone for the "Will Smith saves the world" approach then, despite my hopes. Probably going to be nothing like the excellent novel by Matheson, which is really a shame.
Was intrigued by the first trailer, but second one makes it just seem like another Resident Evil movie, with Milla Jovovich.
What's the premise of the book? Basically world's wiped out by a virus that make them all go crazy, but one man's immune and tries to cure the human race?
A virus turns people into vampires, except Robert, who has a natural immunity. The book follows him in his isolation, focusing on his efforts to find a cure, his his daily efforts to kill the infected while staying alive himself, and his desperate attempts to retain his sanity under tremendous strain. It's short, almost a novella, but contains a few twists and turns along the way.
I think it's very safe to assume that Hollywood won't be following the book too closely, bastardising the main concept to suit their needs. Pity too, because the book, as is, would make for a great movie.
Omega Man a million times worse than this will be, I promise you that, and I do not have high hopes for this at all. "The last man on Earth" a slightly better, slightly more faithful attempt at bringing the book to the screen, starring Vincent Price, is more worthy of your time.
