Was it simply the fact that Lara became the highest run scorer of all time by making a run (or runs) off the highest wicket taker of all time?

Ok, as we know Brian Lara became the leading test run scorer that match.
Shane Warne did not become the leading test wicket taker that match because he already was the leading test wicket taker.
Therefore when Lara got the record we had a situation where the leading wicket taker in test history was bowling to the leading run scorer in test history, something that hadn’t happened since the 1890s I believe.
That my friends is your answer and seeing as Retro was the closest ill let him take over....
