I'm currently working on a piece on why the French League (with the exception of Lyon) is weak when compared with the National Team...I'd mainly just like to get a few different opinions just out of interest to see what the general feeling is!

fairly obvious answer is that they export their best talents when they mature

Firstly, it's because the teams don't have so much money to attract stars.

Secondly, it's because the teams let their stars go when they have already been looked promising for a small amount of fee.

Is football the most popular sport in France?

I thought Marsellie and PSG were strong teams?

You mean the National Team is not weak...

hmmm....

Scotland 1-0 France
France 0-1 Scotland

7 saves by Craig Gordon in both games together

Seeing the top French team being humped at home 3-0 by a "Pub Team" then watching the national team being trounced in 2 matches by the international "Pub Team".

And what ATW said

IIRC, the French league struggles to attract talent because their taxes are a lot higher than Spain, England and Italy for high earners like footballers.
