I never knew having money made a great league? There is no great league in Europe in fact, they are all rather predicable, with only maybe Germany in recent years bucking the trend.
I would rather see my Nation blood the younglings, play well and then see them move onto better things than have foreigners in my league who don't care. If it is not good enough for our work force then idiots should not have the right to want it for our Football teams!
Also note, the backbone of most Italian teams are actually Italian, you will never get what you get in the Premiership where you can count between both sides the amount of English Players on one hand.

Obviously the high taxes is a big part of the relative weakness of the French league. Another thing is that French clubs can't really overspend because their economic situation must be approved by the French FA. The TV deal for France is a pittance in comparison to the big nations in Europe too. Whether that is due to the league being weak or the league being weak because of the low TV deal is a hen and the egg situation.

| Yeah isn't there some rule where all the clubs have to prove they operate at a profit or something? Like you could never see a French team try and emulate Chelsea even if they had an owner with billions since their spending would still be limited.

| As far as I can tell the OP wasn't asking for why the French league was boring. It was asking why it was weaker, so in that case money has a lot to do with it. Sure you could argue that the English league isn't as good as the Scottish league, but I don't think you could ever argue that the English Premiership is weaker than the Scottish Premiership.
And that all revolves around money.

Nope, I disagree, the TV deal in France was awesome for the past few years (let's not compare it the to EPL please but anything is a fair comarison)
The taxes is obviously a HUGE if not he bigget reason why great freanch football players leave the country... Just put yourself in their situation for a minute and thiank about it.
If your club is willing to spend $10,000,000 a year on you. That's an assumption, just to get an idea...
In France the player would get about $2,500,000. In England, Spain or Italy he would get about $5,000,000... why would a player decide to stay in the French league then?... If someone finds me a good reason to then I'll shut up but untill then I'll say that the biggest reason is taxes, hands down!

There is no way in hell any one can say a league ios weaker than x, y or z. For a league to be weaker than another, then the best club in league y would have to be worse than the worst team in league x.
Pulling power of a League and the strength of a league are far and aware two different things. It is stupid to decide a league on who you can bring in! Just means (well it can, and should be) the players in the league already are weak!
