It was good fun and a season would last 8 weeks.
Does that count?

haha I remember doing that. I was one of the first at primary school to get access to the internet (though it wasn't mine) and I convinced a few mates I could sign us up to an online league. We'd all negotiate deals with each other then I told them I'd put the results into the system.
Needless to say I just plucked the results out of my arse, making sure all my mates did well, but obviously not as well as me. In addition, there was always someone who considered himself to be a smartarse if he got a good result so I made his side as inconsistent as hell.
By the end they had mostly twigged on but carried on 'playing' anyway because we felt so powerful just throwing millions about - "Buy Bergkamp for £20m?" - "Nah, £10m plus Yorke" - "Done".
Happy days
