8800 Ultra would be my choice but its not worth the premium over the GTX imo.
The 8800GTS is being discontinued very soon and replaced by the 8800GT, which is between the 640mb GTS and GTX in terms of performance, so still a high end card. Could be the a good choice instead of the Ultra. Plus expect similar prices to the current GTS crop.
it's up to you, But if it was me up to me
I would buy the 8800GT and save yourself £250 keep your money for the next gen card which is 9800.
Ps you won't notice any differance between the 8800Gt and 8800ultra.
The top end 8800 cards are struggling with crysis with high setting, so there is no point on paying £400+ on a card that will be obsolete in six months.
I disagree. The GT 512mb will not be as fast as a GTX but will slash on the current GTS.
The GT doesnt have the stream processess of the GTX (112 to 128 iirc). But 'bang for buck' it looks like being great value until the next gen 9800 or what ever Nvidia calls them come along.

I never said that they were the same speed, I said about.
The differance between the cards will be so small that you won't even notice unless you
run benchmark programs.
