So so sad, but I guess tonight's match highlighted why he had to go. Bizarre atmosphere and barring a brief spell at the start of the 2nd half was an awful match. Ironically that brief spell of goodness seemed to be inspired by the crowd all standing up and singing for Jol.

Oh and comparing Newcastle and Spurs and the whole "biggest club" debates in general are probably the most thoroughly tedious debates on OTF.

1) Spurs a lot bigger than Newcastle?

What are you basing that on?
- Spending power?
- Finishing positions in the PL?
- Current league position?
- Average attendances?
- Ground size?
- Or the fact that Spurs won the league in 1961 and we haven't won it since 1927?

2) Yes, Juande Ramos isn't Souness or Roeder. But he's not the Tottenham manager either, so don't get too excitable until he's officially appointed.

there's very very few exits in football that I care about, but this is one of them.

Jol did an excellent job for the first 2 years, finishing 5th twice is fantastic for Spurs. Shame this season didn't go so well, I don't think it's completely his fault, I don't think he wanted Darren Bent, I think people went above his head.

I hope he gets another chance in Poofland to prove he is good (a la Sven).

That said, I don't think He'd have turned Spurs around this season.
