There's an article on Insurance too.

That's the best site on the net for financial matters... and no, I'm not on commission (it's a free site!)
Aha

Is that the guy from Tonight with Trevor McDonald?

Impossible to say because there are so many factors involved in the decision process and a wide disparity between insurers quotes too.

If you follow the link I just posted - it will guide you to sites that can give you a quote (shopbot sites). You can enter your details and whatever car you fancy and see how much it would be to insure with a number of insurers.

Yes. I have his book The Money Diet - he saved me about £3000k a year without me having to alter my lifestyle at all. Very clever fella.

My instructor was quite cynical about that, didn't seem to push me into doing that for whatever reason, seemed to think that I'd only spend the money saved on the actual course.

Can't argue about that at all then.

Very sensible attitude imo, so you won't go far wrong

I do think Fords often provide a good balance overall. Newer ones are pretty reliable, and the parts are cheap as chips. Not very 'prestiguous' and there are lots of them out there... but financially a good choice imo.

Ah, will do that when I get a bit of time and see what I find then.

Going back to the cost of the car itself, if I were to go for a used category 1 car which would seem the cheapest, what price range am I going to be looking at about?

Well, fore the saving was about £1,300 while te course cost only £100.

Well worth it imo.
