The misses, God bless her, has said she will get me an Xbox for Christmas and birthday (my birthday is December 31st) however Im not sure what one to get.

I appreciate the Elite has a harder harddrive, but Im not sure I will use it.

If I am going to hook it up to a 19" monitor do I have to use the Elite or with the Premium do that ?

Also, do the new Premiums have the Falcon chip ? Ive heard that this stops the problem with the Red Rings of Death.

Any help will be most appreciated.

as far as I'm aware the only difference between the elite and the newer premium consoles is the hd size

Go with Premium and get a few extra games chucked in.

Take it you are connecting with VGA cable which you can do with the premium.

Neither, wait for the next iteration hopefully in either Q1/Q2 2008... Will have have 65nm processors and smaller GPU making for a cooler machine, also rumoured to also have HD-DVD built in.
