afb
Are you a member of a private club? - do you enjoy it? I'm a member of the HMI (Hailsham Memorial Institute) and it is fffb. Very cheap beer, always a good atmosphere, decent entertainment - always a band or a disco both nights of the weekend, plus quiz nights, race nights etc) and plenty of people around.

Pints at £2.05 (Stella - Bulmers is £1.55 a bottle, and other pints are £1.70-95), in a town where amongst the other 7 pubs the cheapest (Non Fosters) pint is £2.90 isn't bad at all.

I seem to remember we've got someone here (Powlay?) who owns/runs/works behind the bar, one of the three, at a members club?

The best thing about our club is coming soon - the Christmas Draw. Basically a bloody great raffle - tickets on sale from early October at 25p till a day or so before - the stage gets filled with booze, electronic goods, meat vouchers (Yeah, OK, I'll give you that one ), cuddly toys - loads of different things - and then just before Christmas there's a draw evening.

In several years of going, I've never failed to make my money (£10-15) back. Often I've done far, far better - one year we won a Portable TV, the next, a stereo system - as well as plenty of alcohol too (The Harvey's Bristol Cream, however, hasn't been touched since it was won ).

Anyway, I'm rambling - anyone else a member of a members club - and do you enjoy it?

Harvey's Bristol Cream is absolutely lush tbh. Have got a bottle on the sly waiting for Christmas to hit. It'll be gone in a flash.

My brother in law is a member of a military club. No women allowed and cheap beer and snooker tables.

Pretty good
