Default A day in New York

Next week I'm going to have a day in New York to do something. I've never been before, so what would be the best way for me to spend this day?

Go Ice Skating at either the Rockefeller or Central Park.
Take the Staten Island Ferry (it's free) there and back to get a good look at Manhattan.
Go to the top of the Empire State Building.
Play the massive piano (a la Big) in FAO Schwarz.

All of those sound good, except the ice skating, I just can't do it to save my life.

You could do what I did. Go to the Guggenheim, see Tim Henman, get rained on and the walk back to the hotel because there aren't any cabs.

If you're only in NYC for a day the last thing you want to do is take a 20 minute ferry ride to Staten Island and back

I never had any desire to do any of the touristy stuff when I was in NYC. Just chilled around and drank, taking in the wonderful natives :*)
