| well kind of and they are increased so that the people that already have borrowed have less disposable income and less money to spend on goods and or/services.
inflation is basically too much money chasing too few goods so you put interest rates up to basically take money from people so they cant buy stuff or cant afford to borrow to buy stuff therefore the demand for these goods reduces and so does the price.
however rates are likely to be going down again before they rise further so I think a housing crash is a way off yet </BLOCKQUOTE>
Can't see UK rates dropping in the near future as Inflation is still higher than the target
Don't see another rise in the short term either TBH, but after the recent jumps there are many people feeling the pinch

inflation is below target of 2% @ 1.8% currently and rates are expected to go down http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article.html?in_artic...=424992&in_page_id=2 |

On another note, just to get a feel for respective property values elsewhere in the UK, what would 150k buy me in your area?

Hard to believe £150k can get you a 3-bed anywhere in the country.
I sold my 2-bed flat in London for £240k a couple of months ago. And it was hardly top spec.

Interesting to see what other people could get for that.
