Right for those who gaf (and yes im fully aware that number will be around the zero mark) the AA has been booked for 6-7pm. Cant get there any earlier cos of work. Hopefully they'll be reasonable punctual & it wont take them long as im supposed to be in a meeting at 7!

I suggest giving the AA a ring at 5, just to make sure they will be there for 6 because their schedules very much depend on what they are having to do before they get to you. They should be able to do it for you, as they did for my Mum before.
What car is it, by the way? How old? As a failsafe, you may want to ask a local mechanic.

Its a Focus, 03 reg. Gave all the car details to the AA so presumably they'll come prepared! They said they'll send me a text when they're 10 mins away and from personal experience they've been pretty reliable for me.
If not ill cancel their asses and go to the RAC |

The AA opened the boot for a mate of mine who was in the same situation when we were at a football tournament.
I would imagine this is fairly common so the AA bloke will carry the equipment.
I used work for them you know?

aa man used what was basically an iron bar, a flat strong piece of metal, and a coat hanger to open mine once,
put the flat strong piece in between the door and the body of the car at the top of the door, and slowly wedge a gap open at the top, put the bar in to hold the gap open, then use the hanger, or a long hooked thing down thru the gap to wind the window down or pull the door handle open from the inside. works. might scratch the paint at the door frame though, use wood maybe?

AA bloke might chose to give you one of those funny looks like when you've done something silly.
Can't find the spare set of keys ? Tried to looking for them first of is it a lost cause. I recommend putting them somewhere easy to remember in case the originals get lost

Well whatever Rocky does it can't be as daft as when my clutch pedal went loose.
There's me trying to be Mr I Know Something About Cars... and I say "I think the clutch cable has snapped" and he turns to me completely deadpan and says "I doubt it, these cars don't have clutch cables!"
I had to laugh - all you can do in that situation really.
