I think people have a warped view of public expenditure. At one point during the war in Iraq it was costing the UK taxpayer £73m A DAY. And no-one (or extremely few people) opposes the war on the grounds of tax. Yet when we get onto the subject of a policeman who isn't constantly catching murderers and rapists people are outraged.

Calling the police out like Powlay suggests for something like this would fall firmly into that category. </BLOCKQUOTE>
check the singles thread for someone calling the police out about a stupid thing </BLOCKQUOTE>

my other half did exactly the same thing, took the AA bloke less than 30 seconds to break in, with something resembling a coat hanger.

Would cost you personally all of what? | It's not just the taxes issues, it's the resources issues too though.
Like somebody said earlier, the police don't go out and attend situations where cars are being broken into. It's not going to be hard and fast, but there will be occassions where they've had to be called out to ridiculous non situations like helping somebody get into their car because they've been stupid and locked their keys in the boot, or because some daft drunk scotswoman wants them to go to her place of work to see if her phone is there.

If the doors to the car are unlocked, pull the back seat back down for access to the boot.
