Mine is pretty similar to the thread starter: moved to China and got engaged at 27, married at 28, daughter at 29, quality job house at 30. However, I don't like the idea of being 'set' forever. We plan to move abroad again in a few years time, while I never say never with the job - there are always other openings cropping up all the time. So I don't think my life will ever be set in a lot of ways.

Oh and age is not a factor. It is just a time of lives where most people have a number of factors in their life that would constitute being settled.

| Sure age is a factor, and it doesn't have to be yourself who has an issue with it but society. It's all fine and swell to take the high ground and say you don't care what anybody else thinks, but it's just not very practical. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Eh? Practical? It's your life ffs, you do what you want to do, when you want to. I don't care what society thinks, and that's got bugger all to do with taking any high ground, it's simply not their business if/when I choose to settle down. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Society's norms have practical implications for you, even if you don't care about them. Do you really believe age doesn't play a factor or are you merely saying you wish it wouldn't?

what a silly question.
when you're ready.
unless you're indian, then when your parents find a suitable family to marry you into.
| how can "opinions" be a silly question? </BLOCKQUOTE>
you're asking what is the right age to be settling down. It's like asking people what the right age is to stop smoking, or start having anal sex.
It's completely subjective. If you asked 'what age did you lot settle down with your partners?', it'd made a lot more sense. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I didn't ask that at all.
What age is the norm for settling down according to OTF?
Happy? </BLOCKQUOTE>
oh and apologies to Bliss, I did ask that. Red wine on a tuesday night is another sign of being settled, I guess.

| I'm saying that if I wanted to settle at 18, or 38, I can't see it being an issue, and should society have an issue with that I couldn't give a flying one. Can't really repeat myself again on that one.

In fact, scrub that and change the top age to 68. If Forsyth can have a kid then, so can I, and to hell with the Daily Mail

i'm 27, gf is 23, moved in to an apartment I bought 8 months ago. She went back to college there in September, she'll be qualified in May, then we'll probably start saving again for a proper house and rent this out.

I have probably settled down at 22. Good job, fairly well paid, expect that to go up soonish, will be living in the same town for a long time to come I expect.
I can see exactly where my life is heading and what I'll be doing in 5 years and 10 years time. To answer nelly's question, no I don't feel slightly gutted. What's wrong with living a comfortable life in a job you love in a company you love and with friends around you? Can't think of a better (and feasible) way to spend my time on this planet.
