I'm 16 and my younger brother's 13, he is verging on obesity and we can't figure out what to do with him. He's stopped wanting to play football which he used to absolutely love, in fact I think he still does. But would rather he didn't have to play and make an embarassment of himself.
Now I'm need to know if there's anything I can do, we are reasonably close but I don't think he likes talking to me about these sort of things. I'm thinking a big reason is that I'm the thinnest out of our direct family and he either feels jealous or envious. So I'm really confused, we've tried to get him to go to gym etc. But he just snacks out constantly.
My mum is really stressed and it sounds like she is seriously considering taking him to the doctors but I'm not sure how up front they'll be to a kid going through a tough time. Everytime we think he's stopped snacking my mum finds some sugary crap in his bedroom.
It's really ****ing me off, mainly because it's bringing my mum's spirits down. My dad's not really being much help and I just wondered if the doctors/hospital seems the best course of action. I think I'd rather he spent his money on fags than on food at the minute.
Anyone else had experience either themselves or family.
Btw if you've come in to make wise-crack jokes, save them for a time when I feel more like joining in.
Stop buying snacks & sugary crap so he cannot eat them? If it's not in the house he cannot eat them & at 13 I doubt he has enough money to go out & buy them himself?
Oh & I assume it's not a medical condition he has?
