Default Question about faulty PS3 and my rights

I purchased a PS3 from Blockbuster on the 18th October and it no longer reads any disks.

I want to take it back for a replacement/refund but i'm not sure i can find the receipt. I have phoned Blockbuster and they said they can not do anything unless i provide the receipt. I've been reading up about my rights on the net and it says that i do not have to provide a reciept, a bank statement would be sufficient as proof of purchase.

Is this correct and can anyone give me any advice on what my best course of action would be on returning it

Might be a good idea to printout a copy of where it says it on the internet then they can't make a fuss about it.
