After seeing Riise's wage slip and the thousands he gets for just turning up it got me thinking why do players get them?

I get paid x amount to do a job at work. My employers dont they turn around and go "we will give you x amount extra as you turned up today, well done". Players get paid ridiculous amounts as it is so why this extra on top for doing something they are getting paid for in their normal wage?

Normal people get similar things, Bonuses for reaching targets etc etc.

Extra incentive to play well and train well so they are picked. Complete rubbish tbh, but hey ho, that's football.

I think so they can pay them less if they get injured or lose form and get dropped.

Winning the CL or hitting targets is one thing and rightfully should be rewarded, but players get them just for getting out of bet and driving to the ground
