Good thing this Christmas is that we get the whole week between Christmas Eve and New Year off (finish on the 23rd and back on the 2nd Jan)
So was thinking of going somewhere between Christmas and New Year.
There were flights to Oslo with Ryanair from Stansted for £25 return  (about a third of the normal cost) - but they've bloody vanished.
New York might be a good shout or Canada.
Then again - somewhere in Europe would be preferable - any good cheap recs (that may involve taking in some sporting action)

I did that WCR the other month.
Osloifffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffffffffffffffffffffb.
Though take note, the bus from Torp to Oslo takes over an hour and costs £26 return
But still, Oslo is amazing, as is Norway. I love it and can't wait to go back.

| Love the city - have been there every summer since 1998 and a couple of times in the autumn winter.
The Torpexpressen is a bitch of a journey - but some of the scenery is decent.
Got a couple of mates out there who moved to Oslo from Mansfield about 5 years ago.
They made the right choice |

Prague is just mind-blowing in every way.
It has everything you could possibly want from a city and it's cheap (unlike Barcelona and Oslo)and compact.
That said, I've never been in winter - the latest I've been there is early October.

Avoid Milan like the plague. No place worse than a drab city such as that in November/December - and it will be as drab as hell. If you have to go to Italy, go somewhere with a character, such as Rome or Palermo.
Speaking of character, have you considered Slovenia? Ljubljana (sp) is a great city, very affordable, plenty to see and do and, if you do get bored of the sights, the women and the cheap beer, you can always head the half-hour up the road to Lake Bled. Easyjet fly there.

It's been recommended before but http://www.skyscanner.net is great for budget flights.
Berlin is cool, good mix between new and old
