Right, I went on a cleaning spree on my computer the other day, getting rid of all the folders with music in them in my documents and other folders, because there were folders everywhere.
Now, one of these folders appears to have been the iTunes main archive, so now my iTunes library is empty. So when I plug the iPod into the computer, it says that the attatched iPod is not synced (or linked or something) to this library, and gives me two options, sync with this library, or cancel. I assume syncing with that library will wipe the iPod, which will be a very bad thing, as 50% of the music on there I won't be able to get hold of again, so I cancelled.
Now, anything that gets put into this library (i.e. newly downloaded podcasts) can't be dragged and dropped into my iPod, which is gay, because podcasts are really the only thing I listen to on it.
So, in summary, how do I get my iTunes back to normal, and get my podcasts back?
The only way i can think is to use a program that takes all off your songs off your iPod and then you can add them back onto iTunes. You can get a program off iLounge i think
If you can access your iPod as a removable disk, you can go into the iPod control folder, then just drag the music folder, which contains all of your audio and video files, into your library. Both those folders will be hidden.
Normally this method sucks because of the iPod's file-naming conventions, you can't tell which file is which, but if you want to get everything back, it should work just copying all the files. Won't have all your artwork, though.

will it have the names on the songs when they're played on the ipod?

"Although the music files bear a seemingly incomprehensible four-letter title (AHLK.m4a, for example) when viewed outside of iTunes, their titles will appear properly once you’ve brought them into iTunes." So your library and ipod will have the correct names.
