Trick or treating on any day other than halloween is essentially door to door mugging.
Once had some kids knock on the door at home a week beforehand "because we're on holiday on halloween". Well tough **** then.

I told them to come back when it's hallowe'en and tomorrow a sign is going up saying "KIDS IN BED" at about 6.30.

Two years ago we had absolutely loads (our first Halloween at this house), last year we bought loads of sweets to prepare and about 2 people showed up. Weird.
