I have a water pistol handy at the door, and some eggs.

I give sweets to the little kids, who turn up and have made a proper effort, and turn up with their parents.
However, for the roughneck 15-year olds dressed in hoodies and not even remotely Halloween-ish, they get told I have no sweets, and if they don't leave, I pick up the SuperSoaker I have propped in the corner of my porch out of sight, and they soon scarper.
The eggs are for an emergency tbh.
