Default How much work is too much work?

Currently living in a house in london with 3 other peeps all of us working in finance of one form or another. I'm an accountant, ones in asset management, ones a sales trader and the other is an investment banker.

Now I'm definitly on the lowest pay in the house but at the same time have the easiest hours, the girl in asset management works about 7.45am-5.45pm, the girl in sales trading 6am-7pm and the guy in investment banking 9am-sometime after 9pm. All of us have been enjoying our jobs and coping with the hours pretty much ok.

So tonight I'm sitting in my room doing a bit of study for my exams when I hear my mate get in at 10 o'clock. This being a good day for him I decide to stop work and maybe have a beer or two/play some pro evo. Turns out he has to be in the office tomorrow at 6am and has a hectic week lined up. When I asked when I'd see him again he said, "the weekend, maybe". Now his remuneration is immense but at the same time rather him than me.

To be honest, if I enjoy the work and if it's as well paid as you suggest, I wouldn't mind doing what hours they wanted.

My working life is a breeze compared to that.

Last week for example:

Monday-thursday 10pm-7am.

Actually work about an hour or 2 of that shift, and get home most mornings at 4-5am.

Overtime sunday 2pm till 8pm.
Got in at 2, read a newspaper then told to go home at 4pm.
