So we ordered a cooker what seems like ages ago now as our old one broke. Due to the specs we need we could only find one in Argos. They said it will be delivered in 35 days. We got a letter the other day to say it will be in the Argos depo on the 35th day (28th Oct). Still havent heard anything so my Dad rang them today, and they now say it wont be in the depo until the 15th Nov. So basically the letter lied and we arent confident that they will have it in stock on the 15th
What i was wondering is do they have to legally delivery in a set period from once you placed your order? I know if you send something for repair they have to fix it within 28 days, but dunno if anything similar is in place for delivery

Try and get it for free, complain that you werent kept informed and all that as well. At least go for some vouchers out of it
Had a look last night couldnt see anything. Its costing a fiver for delivery. I told me Dad to say you want it back. I know its only a fiver but thats not the point
I don't think there's much you can do. Theoretically, you may be able to take them to court to get them ordered to perform their part of the contract But obviously that will be so time consuming that the stuff will have been delivered before you've even got the ball rolling.
I imagine you can cancel your order and get a refund. But I don't think you'll be entitled to compensation or anything.
A friend of mine had serious hassle with getting her sofas delivered, I think in the end she got a fair bit of money off, not sure if it was a good will gesture or whether they threatened legal action or to cancel the order.
I'd kick up a stink if I were you and see if you get anything.
