he does... he says pryor was his idol... but dude in terms of era pryor is a fair bit older it was watching pryor that got murphy into stand up, so he says in raw anyway

The stuff you can buy on Pryor is about late 70's. Murphy's standup is early 80's.

Pryor was around as a standup for years but the early period was more like Sammy Davis jnr.

I was going to say. With Pryor / Murphy i would imagine it's more an idol/reason i got into comedy thing. I remember when i was younger listening to Murphy's Raw and probably at that time there wasnt too many people that had heard Pryor's act (i hadnt anyway). Not really in the same era so to speak

Then some American comedian's shows started appearing on Channel 4, like Bill Hicks but i remember Raw on a tape casette
