Do most people actually have a best mate? I have a few close friends but the one that I'm closest to changes fairly regularly and I wouldn't say any of them of are a 'best mate' in the normal sense.

Known her since I was 16 I think, so a good 7 years or so. She's in Uni in Newcastle atm so I don't get to see her much at all but we speak a lot. It's a good friendship really though.

About 2 years.
I'm quite reliable i'd say, so is he, but ****ing hell he leaves everything to the last minute, which is a bit annoying.
And i'd say we're there for each other.

| I'm like this tbf, but I chose this person as I am usually closest to them.

Pretty much been 18 years now, he's a year younger than me, we went to dfferent schools but lived in the same street growing up "hanging about" together as kids.
We lost touch for about year when I moved out of home and off the estate but a had a chance meeting in the pub up town on the night Chelsea beat Barcelona 4-2, he was at the otherside of the pub watching Man u, spotted me, we just picked up where we left off.
We're both "grown up" now and lead different lives but speak regular and have a few bevvy's as often as we can but, he has his faults but you let it ride after so many years, I'd deffo trust him with my life and I'd like to think/hope the feelings mutual.

I've known my 'best mate' for >15 years and he annoys me quite a bit, when he cant pay for stuff, and expexts me to pay, the ****er.
I dont really share my personal stuff with him, but I do with a mutual friend, who I've known for <4 years

| I'd be hard pressed to pick one friend who i'm closest to than any of the other.
Out of the most likely candidates though, I have known one of them since lower school (so about 16 years, but wouldn't really say we were friends until about 8/9 years ago. It's a weird one because we are incredibly similar, so the friendship can vary between getting on like a house on fire to being very competative and a bit hostile towards eachother.
One of the others i've been friends with since I was about 9 or so (start of middle school), we've grown to be 2 very different people, but we still really get along as well as we ever did.
And the rest of my closest circle of friends i've known for about 8 years or so, how close I am with them varies from time to time.
So yeah, I wouldn't really say I have an out and out "best friend" - but i've got a few who probably would be suitable if everyone else had gone, if you know what I mean.

| Quelle surprise.
I have two best friends and they're both top drawer, thanks. Have known them since the first year of infant school (dunno how old I was then, 3 maybe?) and year 10.
Btw, why did BG tell us his best friends name? |
