Imagine Bethesda's Oblivion, set in a very geographically accurate post-apocalyptic London that's been over-run by demons and monsters.
An RPG that can be played in both first and third person perspective (helps keep both FPS lovers and haters happy that way), it could be a bit special. Shipping with around 250 missions for players to experience, with more content reportedly in development ala the downloadable content for Oblivion, along with an MMO side to it once you get tired of playing on your own. The MMO even comes in two flavours, one of them free, before folks start complaining about subscription costs. Of course, those who do pay get extras (inventory holds more, can arrange bigger squads, etc...) but it's nice to see some MMO's moving away from the exclusive pay options.
The demo is only a very brief taste of what's to come, I'm currently playing the BETA and it's much better.
Also, for those worried about whether their machines can handle this, Flagship have done a decent job of optimizing it to run on older machines, admittedly sacrificing graphical beauty in places, but it does mean it'll be available to a larger audience. For those of us with beasts however, just crank up the video settings and while it's no Crysis, it's plenty pretty enough.
stevethedog, website doesn't seem complicated to me. Perhaps you are thinking of Jericho?
It features a 250 mission+ single player mode Fran, folks are comparing it scope-wise to Oblivion, which I think is more than a little ambitious. Suffice to say, plenty of hours of gameplay for folks not wanting to play online. However, once you do tire of playing alone, you can go online and play in the multiplayer co-op mode which allows you to form a band of heroes to wander London, completing missions together and generally cleaning the streets of demon scum. It's free for everyone, but if you choose to pay the subscription then you will get "extras". These include being able to form 12 man teams, "elite" weaponry and armour, hardcore mode, etc.....
