Worth pointing out that it's not just the school that puts pressure on people.

JK, Saha et al: Just as I expected, and I experienced something rather similar. Now watch as that becomes endemic in the state system.

| I don’t. Really. Aside from giggling at the industrial strength pomposity I’ve no issue with you or your style. In fact I admire the way you won’t dumb down your content for the proles.

Interestingly I got labelled much the same musically but never had any pressure placed on me as it was just seen as a hobby when I was younger.

Obviously that wasn't addressed to Saha.

My abject failure to live up to supposed promise was simply down to rank laziness and immaturity rather than the pressures applied by a system or a label. It was only half way through my A-levels that it dawned on me that some level of work would be required if little Jamie was going to continue to saunter down the proscribed path. Unfortunately, I said ‘ah **** it’ and didn’t get my arse even remotely into gear for another 3 years by which time I’d been drummed out of University.
Still, all’s well that ends well. I may not have a 1st or an MA, but I’ve a good job and can turnaround work in minutes that others would take hours to deliver…more then enough to lord it over the mere mortals. My talents still enable me to get results that my efforts don’t deserve.

The gifted and talented program at my school was so rubbish that it didn't make a blind bit of difference to me either way.
