Looks like my ipod battery has given up the ghost, so I have ordered a new one. I have a book with instructions on how to replace it to.
What I want to know is, how easy is it to take it apart and replace it? The other alternatives are to buy a new one (not just yet), or send it to Apple to get fixed. Seeing as it is over two years old and out of warranty, this would cost as much as a new anyway.

Easy, I had to do it on one of the first gen Ipod Mini's and was a five minute job. Used a third party replacement battery and it came with the required screwdriver and full instructions.

Drop it onto some foam from about three inches and it will smash into smithereens for you to look at.
For real? </BLOCKQUOTE>
No. I was merely stating how easy they are to break. My cousin dropped her jacket onto the carpet from about a metre and hers smashed.
