Having re-watched Nathan Barley on DVD I've decided it's one of the best, and moreover under-rated, comedy series of recent years.

Darkplace is alright, but effectively flogs the same joke for 6 episodes. Although the song 'One Track Lover' is pretty brilliant.

Yeah, it has. I've watched one episode on BBC America, purely for the novelty value. But I have watched the dvds so many times that I could tell every single cut they made.

And I think a channel like Bravo used to show it too.

Of course they can use the characters, they're part of the format that's been sold, along with with the 'situation' and the series name.

However, they don't have the rights to the scripts (ie the storylines) that were used in the UK.
