| Every American I have showed Spaced to has loved it. Same with The Office, Black Books and Green Wing. You only have to watch a show like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia to realise that you're on dodgy ground with your generalisation. If Spaced were shown here it would probably get a similar kind of audience as it did in the UK, provided it wasn't cut to pieces like the couple of episodes I watched on BBC America.

no apology's made
leave our ****ing shows alone you yank inbred web toed ****ers, you cannot get British comedy, you end up ruining a great thing and making people not try the original as they are misguided enough to think a remake is done to a higher quality

It isn't the public who 'don't get it', it's the people making the decisions.

yeah, nice one Jearm.
I don't see how them attempting a remake will in any way diminish the original.

why didn't they just write a sitcom about people who pretend to be a couple in order to get a flat, but call it something else? why waste money on the name?
surely the few people in america who've seen spaced are generally going to be the kind of people who'd rather watch the original than watch a version done by someone who's worked on will and grace?

Name recognition? It's considered too risky to put a British show in during a prime slot, but if it's written by someone who has a history of well received shows, the execs buy into that kind of horseshit.
