Id certainly do away with the August dates, possible September too but then there's the question of fitting qualifiers in.

International teams need moulding and building too, you cant just cut friendlies. I think FIFA already reduced the amount of friendly games, possibly not though.

The biggest problem in England is that there are too many teams.

the SPL had the winter break a few years back (think it got stopped in 2003 or something) but i didn't like it, i like my football over christmas. At the end of the day the players still have to play the same amount of games over the course of a season so its abit pointless tbh

Years back it might have been a good idea to help the quality of the pitches but nowadays the pitches are in good condition all year round.

professional teams ofc.

No chance of the number ever being reduced though (Turkeys, Christmas, etc) and its pretty unlikely that the FA/FIFA would order a cut.

I think they could have a winter break in january. A two week guaranteed break for all teams would just mean skipping a week of fixtures.

Re International friendlies.

Maybe they could condense them to blocks of 2-3 friendlies held at the same time. Which means the players can spend longer together in camp. And they can rotate the players.

yeah a winter break in January maybe wouldn't be so bad but Christmas time its like become an established fixture and Boxing day would be boring without them.

Out of 20 managers has said that it would be a good idea for a winter break, because everyone needs it, and it might be happening for next season.

Did Fergie tell your dad that or was it one of the 25 United players you're mates with?

Ballboys' union lodged their support behind it as well iirc.

So nobody thinks that a winter break would not be good for the premiership.
