Thought they might have some kind of nicked car standing ready outside to take them a safe distance away (Even if that's to their house) so that they couldn't just be followed on foot back to wherever they were going.

Seemed a bit lame to commit a robbery and walk home dressed like, well, like a robber really.

I know what you mean. Just the machete and axe were so very menacing. There was a till on the shop floor and the guy with the axe whacked the keypad on the till with the axe because he couldn't figure out how to open it (There's a release button if you lift the till up for starters) before they moved onto the one that was manned behind the cigarette kiosk.

That act of violence I found quite unnerving and it made me freeze a bit thinking that could be one of us next.

Thinking about it maybe a gun wouldn't really have been better, it would have just scared me in a very different way. Does that make sense?

Yeah, last year I was walking to the bus stop alone at about half one on a friday night. Fairly stupid, frankly, even in Norwich. A group of six or seven lads approached me, one said "we want your phone mate", I ducked under one of them and ran away, with them in pursuit. They gave up fairly quickly. Felt really shitty afterwards, as if attempting to take them on would have been a more sensible course of action.

Adrenaline rush was awesome though.
