Thinking of buying Stalker: SOC as it is supposed to be awesome and as it has been out a while now I was wondering what OTF's collective thoughts were on it.
Also I can get the original version for 8.99 from DVD.co.uk or the Special Steel Tin Edition for 14.95 from the same place, does anyone have the SE and is it worth an extra 6 quid?
I'm pretty sure there was a Stalker thread but I did a search typing in both stalker and stalker shadow with no result before anyone kicks off
Yeah it's good, doubtt it's worth paying extra for the SE though.
I havent played it much as I found the moving and shooting at the same time quite cumbersome compared to most shooting games, although that may be down to my laptop touchpad ?
Always annoys me when you hear these stories of games being rushed out to meet the demands of the publishers.
Surely the publishers would want the game to be as good as possible otherwise other development companies aren't going to use them as publishers if they make them release unfinished games.

What you going to be running it on?
Mine's an Athlon 64 3400+ (Single core) with a Radeon X1950 pro, and it runs it fine. I thought I might struggle with not having a brand new DX10 card or a dual core chip, but it's absolutely spot on.
Being the fickle type that I am, I actually preferred Stalker to Bioshock. I still play it occasionally, but gave up on Bioshock halfway through due to boredom. Bags more content and atmosphere in Stalker, even if it is a bit glitchy.
