His dealings have looked excellent prior to this season.
Now though we're in a sitation were we're being forced to pay ridiculous amounts for the only players we can seemingly attract.
However compare us to Villa and we're doing no worse - we pay £7m for a keeper rated the best young one in Britain (the other two million is after appearances 50 and 100) and Villa apparently pay £2.5m for Carson on loan for one season.
We pay £5m for Chopra, Villa pay £4.5m for Harewood. Harewood has had one decent Premiership season, the rest of the time his record at lower levels has been dwarfed by that of Choopra - and anyone who has seen Chopra so far this season can see Chopra is a much better player.
£1.5m for McShane, £2.5m for Higginbotham aren't bad deals, not when Villa pay £3.5m for Knight and when clubs like Derby have paid £3m or so for Claud Davis.
Of course we've also signed Halford who so far looks dreadful, Richardson has been hit and miss and Etuhu has as well - I can't see you calling Billy Davis a mug though and they bid over £5m for Kenwyne Jones too.
