The_Fish is infamous around these parts

Piccadily is the biggest one, you'd have to get a bus/tram to get close to the stadium. It's a long walk, tried it once.

but Rob, i get quoted for leaving Gatwick airport direct to Manchester...i was thinking the train left right from Gat. airport and not from Victoria or Euston at London...

You need a train from Gatwick to London, then London to Manchester with a trip on the tube.

Just to confuse matters more...

I know there is a train that goes to Manchester from Guildford station, which is, in turn, 25 minute direct train to Gatwick Airport. I will look into it when I go down there shortly.

Have you considered bus?
