whilst we are here, are the touch ones, flash based or hard drive based?
What does that mean I dont know all this ipod jargo. </BLOCKQUOTE>
The ipods have harddrives in them, jsut scaled down versions of the ones you find in laptops, the itouch has flash storage, which is the same as you get in phones/psps/DSs etc. Flash has no moving parts, so is better for portable things as it cant skip and goes wrong less, and also uses less energy, though currently is more expensive, hence the Itouchs being 8/16gb comapred to 80/160gb on the ipod. I wouldnt worry too much about it when making a decision.
Basically iTouch = smaller memory, bigger screen, and wireless (can browse internet on it, send email etc. can also use more applications on it, think it's got a basic word doc etc
If you jsut want it for music get an ipod, if you want more and arent bothered about ahving a relativly small storage, look at the itouch. Best thing would be to go to an apple-franchised store if there is one near you (you live in liverpool right? must be one there)
I live near Northampton, not seen any apple francised store. I have about 100 albums, can they fit on 8gb? Huge difference in storage space but because it has bigger screen and wireless that is more tempting.
I wont get one untill christmas but want to know a bit more about them before spending money on one.

Average album is about 60-70mb when ripped to 128kbs mp3, so yeah would be able to hold them all. Obviously if you want to put video on there that would take up quite a bit, depending on the quality and size, but after the 100odd albums you should still ajhve a couple of gig spare.
The wireless/interent on them isnt meant to be that good (i.e. quick) though
I think I have my heart set on the ipod touch to be honest because of its looks, wireless and can watch videos. Hopefully there will be ipod touch ith bigger hard drives at xmas.
