PC Thread #485758 - but with a slight twist, i want to build my own
OK, so in about a month or so i will be starting to buy the parts to build my own pc. Now i've never done this before, but i've swapped out bits in the past and figure it shouldn't be "too" difficult. I don't have a PC of my own at the moment, so i will need to buy everything, i figure i need the following components.
Motherboard
Sound Card
Graphics Card
RAM
Hard Drive
Case
Processor
Mouse & Keyboard
DVD Writer
Is there anything obvious that i have missed from that list? Next is what model for each component i should get, i would appreciate any advice on that as it's been a while since i've bought any new PC Parts.
Then lastly about putting it all together. I've Googled this and found a few guides, are there any guides out there that people here have actually used and it all went ok?

When I made mine, the motherboard came without a manual. It was an Asus board. IIRC it came from ebuyer, and on the site it listed recommended CPU's to go with it.
The case did come with a power supply which was more than adequate.

ok cool, just looking at the intel Quad Core on ebuyer, looks impressive... Do i really need a quad core right now, or would duel core by ok?
have a look at the Q6600. Make sure its the G0 stepping as it runs cooler. Also if you wanted to later, it overclocks like crazy
