Take Norway as an example, no Norwegian team was competitive against big European teams until the 90's, when Rosenborg got to the CL quarter finals, Molde got to the group stages, Brann and VĂ¥lerenga to the quarters of the Cup Winners Cup

Because everyone thought Rosenborg would be 2nd in Chelsea's group? Or that Liverpool would be struggling to qualify?

Freak results happen all the time. Only last season we saw Man Utd beat Roma stupidly. They will always exist in football at this - or any other - level. Remember Deportivo v Monaco a few years back? 8-3 wasn't it?
So no - status quo.

Porto won the tournament a few years ago, Rossenborg held Chelsea and beat Valencia tonight while Celtic beat AC Milan and Rangers drew with Barcelona the other week.

Considering our record win is 11-0 back in 1974, no. Besiktas a whole 3 goals better. Added to that they only went and beat us a fortnight ago. Everything went right for them that night, just as everything went right for us tonight.
Who was that 11-0 against? Wasn't it some team from Luxembourg?

Nonsense. Seeds are there to be knocked down. How often have the top two seeds progressed from each group of the Champions League? I am betting that it is perhaps only slightly in favour of the seeded teams.

You and Schalke will still qualify.
