That one struck me as the most likely to be true, to be honest. That'll have come about because some woman in a tropical fish store will have taken her top off for some reason, got in trouble for it, and then explained that she really did have a good reason for having to take it off (whatever the hell that would be). So they pass a law saying that you are allowed to be topless if you're that woman, i.e. a clerk in a tropical fish store in liverpool. Read about this sort of thing somewhere, happens a lot, especially in America.

I'm sceptical about all of those laws though because I'm SURE I've read somewhere fairly reputable that the york/scotsman/bow and arrow one is a myth, law doesn't exist at all.

I'm sure there's one about London cab drivers having to carry a bale of hay in their cab, to feed the horses.

And one that bus drivers can legally urinate by their offside front wheel.

Oh, and I'm sure I remember reading that if you shoot someone with a bow and arrow on a village green on a sunday, it's their fault for getting in the way (As village greens are still officially reserved for archery practice on Sundays). </BLOCKQUOTE>

I've even never heard of this law before. Apparently, it's valid only in one province in Sumatra.

Oh, not quite the same thing, but a judge in South Australia ruled a few years back that it was legally impossible to rape a woman if she was wearing jeans.

Was overturned on appeal, ofc.

There's some kind of commission at the moment going through every law ever passed in this country to void the ludicrous ones that may still exist.

So if they are true, they won't be lasting much longer.
