I assume you would need a license, but how would one go about getting one? Lots of training involved. Then what would the process be to actually have premises of your own, as working behind a bar at a Hogshead for ten years hoping to be given the place to run not an option.
Mainly asking due to Powleys and GuinessGingers (I think) involvement in the beverage industry.

you need all sorts of licenses including an SIA license and the actual license to sell alcohol. most brewery companies offer live in management positions with a basic weekly wage plus a commission on top related to wet and dry sales.
My ex was the landlady of a pub in Essex when she was 19 (up to when she was 22), I could ask her or are you just merely wondering where such tasks wouldn't be necessary

She ran with her bf at the time who was only about 24. They ran it for a brewery I think, but lived there and everything. Was the most jealous person in the world when she told me about it
