I really like the idea of running my own bar, but I bet its the most relentlessly hard work ever, would get bored of it I imagine. They make it seem quite fun in eastenders though

Not an issue.

Very hard work GBS. I knew someone that ran a pub, and also worked 9-5 in London. Nearly killed him, literally. Really should have asked him all this tbh.

Running individual club nights seems to be overtaking running your own bar as the 'in' thing to be doing.

Obviously it's hard work to the extent of booking acts, getting publicity etc. But after you've done that you just cruise around getting wasted on the night, looking flash and sticking random hot girls into VIP.

Then you bugger off with your door takings without caring about the state of the premises or all the work the actual bar manager has to do afterwards.

How can you get bored of "auditioning" the go-go girls?

An ex of mine went into pub management after college - she'd studied Hospitality Management (BTEC) (I think).

Her first pub was 35 miles from her family and friends.

Well I'm hoping that is the trendy thing, as I'd much rather people tried to do that and allow plenty of opportunities for other people to concentrate on doing the proper work.
